12/27: Christmas gallery!

12/14:  i just had a dream in which, in the dream, i dreamt that i overslept and was panicking about being late for class (as it was 11:66 and i had a class at 11:00, so it was now 2/3 over) until i realized that it was Tuesday, the day in which, in the dream, i had my Monday schedule, meaning i didn't have class until 1:30, so there was nothing to worry about, at which point i also realized that it was winter break, and thus i didn't have class at all, at which point i celebrated by standing there for a while with a goofy smile and blissfully Doing Nothing.

on that bizarre note...i'm out of here!!!

12/13: results from posting the mindy wreathe:

12/12:   happy birthday john & nyron

12/11: response to an email asking if i want to go shopping in NY.  names removed.

S__ -

boys don't "shop." they "buy things." preferably in the fastest and least painful manner possible. that is to say, from Walmart or the Internet.

unless you're dating them, but then they're not "shopping." that is called "hanging out," and, though painful, is considered preferable to "the doghouse."

that said, there might be guys interested in "hanging out" in NYC, should enough girls be going. D__ in particular has cast his vote for "ice skating," which is a particular form of "hanging out" especially noted for the opportunity it offers for "fun."*

it should be noted that certain guys have such an aversion to "shopping" that they actually prefer "the doghouse" to certain forms of shopping, such as "shoes."

i'm sure there are offended exceptions among the guys on this list. do yourself a favor and take careful note of them they usually make wonderful and attentive dates. take them to houseparties. reward their tolerance.

but as for me, i'm going to go "buy things" for my doghouse. i plan on making it warm, luxurious, and blissfully free of "shopping."

-john "no sleep for 40 days" jameson

* "fun" is similar to "shopping," but involves more "falling down."

12/8:  hehehe

oh!  and i just entered my first picture ever in the weekly photography contest run by the dpreview Sony Talk Forum.

some of you might recognize the picture.   :-)   props to katie for letting me do that.

12/5:  snow.  john = happy.

11/27: home for thanksgiving.  no updates for a while.

11/25: posted the epic caking of cheryl.  bwahahahahahahahaha!

russ & amanda's wedding pics are up, too.  all black&white, since i had to take them in infrared mode -- too dark for anything else.  but they look good this way.  or, at least, i think they do.  and this is my site, after all.

11/19:  yeah.  we saw the leonids.  that's right.

soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo tired........

11/17:  half of me wants to keep this updated.  the other half keeps his heart off his sleeve.

half #2 is winning.  though they have compromised on the photo galleries.  which are Fun.

though half #1 would like to take this opportunity to post a "help wanted" ad, in the interest of finding more common rooms to study in.  studying in The Cave (aka the room of doom) has proved less than successful.  email me!  im me!  anything.

11/13:  i passed the greek exam!  i passed the greek exam!  i passed the greek exam!  i passed the greek exam!

please remind me to sit my butt down and get things right with God so i can study more than 14 hours before the exam next time.

i'm sleepy now.

11/12:  beginning work on redesigning the PPC Youth Homepage.  Follow along here.

11/10:  kelly's surprise posted!!!!  but note that:

  1. this is the reeeeally compressed version -- 4.9 megs instead of 30 megs.  IM me if you want the full version

  2. you'll need a recent version of windows media player to view this format.  again, IM if you want a different version.

  3. don't expect to come back and see it later.  it's only going to be up for a few days.  ***removed***

a (small!) copy of the card is up, too.

11/4:   harrumph.  living cold again - without truly engaging the world or anything (or anyone) in it.  heart of stone.......

1) justification (making clean).  25 I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean from all
your uncleannesses, and from all your idols I will cleanse you.

2) renewal (making new).  26 And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you.
And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.

3) sanctification (making holy).  27 And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my
statutes and be careful to obey my rules.
             Ezekiel 36:25-27

i keep expecting to be obedient before i desire to be obedient.  but what can one expect from a corrupt heart before God has worked a miracle in it?  corruption, of course.  and only a fool can expect to change his own heart.

10/31:  fall break should be longer.  like, all of fall, for instance........

i would like to include a tribute to xanga.com for teaching me many valuable life lessons, such as:

  • 60% of people aged 14-22 are openly depressed.  12% are hiding it.  5% are high.  the rest are annoying.

  • deep thoughts are less deep on paper.

  • boys have girl problems.

  • and girls...
                      have boy problems.

  • oh, and teenagers write rather predictable poetry.

hmm...kinda like the duckpond!

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! i am xanga incarnate!  run away!  run awaaaaaaaaaaay!

10/21:  nick got me hooked on grits.  the end is near.

and i just snagged a picture of a corona -- pretty cool:

and vernon's x-box is here.  how oh how will i ever make it through mid-terms?!?

10/16:  say hello to Mascot the terrier!

10/13:  new camera is HERE!  yaaaaay!

10/11:  ow ow ow ow ow...my fingers are going haywire again.  seems oddly reminiscent of carpal tunnel or something.  ahh well.  if i just did my silly exercises and refrained from spending all day on the computer i'd be fine.  but that would make too much sense.

10/6:  note to self: don't put your greek homework down somewhere and neglect to remember the location of that wherever.

10/4:

"I desire to record my shameful deeds and the carnal corruptions of my soul, not that I might grow to love them, but that I might grow to love you, my God. I do this out of love of your love, recalling my worthless ways as a bitter tang in my meditations; that you might become sweet to me, an unfailing sweetness, a sweetness joyful and secure, and so gather me in from my dispersion, into which I have been scattered...

So what was it that lured me, except to love and be loved? But no line was upheld, from one soul to another, as in the shining road of friendship, but clouds exhaled from my murky carnal concupiscence and bubbling adolescence obscured and darkened my heart, such that I could not distinguish the serenity of love from the gloom of desire...Your wrath swelled over me and I was oblivious. I was deafened by the rattling of the chains of my mortality, the punishment for the arrogance of my soul, and I wandered far from you, as you permitted, being enticed and poured out and emptied and boiled by my relationships; and you remained silent. O belated joy of mine! You were silent then, and I wandered further still from you towards more and more futile seeds of grief, arrogant in my will and restless in my exhaustion..."

Augustinus, Confessionum, II:1-2

wee...

10/1:  hmm...i don't seem to be keeping up with this as much this year.  that and the musings web sort of Died.

if it's any consolation, the photo galleries are rapidly evolving.  much new stuff.  i look forward soooo much to having a new camera...one month, two tops.

in the meantime...things are busy.  very, very busy.  PEF, Manna, RA duties, Brown Co-op chores, Café work, Greek, Latin...this just might be one of my hardest semesters.  and soon i'll have to start my first Junior Paper.......eep.

but i have a little sib!  shout out to james yang.  Manna frosh-adoption program.  i think he's already figured out that his big sib isn't quite normal...mwouhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha*THUD*.

odd...MS FrontPage is warning me that "mwouhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha" isn't in its dictionary.  silly program.

9/24:  Photokina!!!!!!  yeah new cameras.

9/16:  Omigoodness Greek is HARD.

9/11:  As my mother said, "it was a somber day."

9/9:  Back on Campus
